At the moment, the members of the institute teach courses for the Integrated Studies ("Studium Integrale", SI) and the Extracurricular Offers ("Extracurriculare Angebote", EA). Lecturers: Dr. Sven Wortmann (Tamil, history of religions in South Asia), private lecturer Prof. Dr. Lars Göhler (Indian Philosophy).

The SASOA study program ended with the retirement of Prof. Ulrike Niklas on March 31, 2022. The study program included a sound education and training in the languages of Tamil, Indonesian and Khmer as well as a broad overview on the history and societies of South India and South Asia (SAARC countries Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka), Tamil literature, Indian religions, philosophy and the economy of India. A particular feature was the interdisciplinary structure of our study program that linked cultural studies with social sciences.
